Founded in 2014 as Jeff Januszek Social Media, PERK Social Media is a team of social media people who love social media. The company has been certified as a DBE and a member of the MCCNO Small and Emerging Business program since 2016. Their clients include Breaux Mart Supermarkets, Mercedes-Benz of New Orleans and the Benson Automotive family of dealerships, Magazine Street, Acquistapace’s Markets, NOLA ChristmasFest, and more. They pride themselves on creating personality, not just posts.
Before moving to New Orleans from Detroit, PERK Founder Jeff Januszek worked in radio for 17 years. Back then, the radio industry was shrinking quickly because of how people were using their phones for media consumption. Since Jeff couldn’t find a media job in New Orleans, he decided to create his own. To get his foot in the door, he offered to help a non-profit start a social media campaign to fix the streets of New Orleans. The campaign (which he worked on pro bono) got a big social media following and local media coverage. Word of the success got around and as they say, the rest is history.
A key moment for Jeff was getting connected with NOLA ChristmasFest. As a transplant to New Orleans, Jeff felt honored to be working with the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. “It made me feel like I had ‘made it’ to have a major part of the city as a client,” he said. In the years they’ve worked together, PERK has helped NOLA ChristmasFest and the City of New Orleans reach over 10 million unique social media users.
Over the last year, Jeff has grown his team with additional social media experts. “The PERK team is everything to me,” he said. “They are so talented and truly love social media. It allows me to focus on building the business so I can continue to take care of them.” At PERK, it’s all about creativity, consistency, and communication. The team works hard to keep up with the latest best practices in social media, which can quite literally be different each day. PERK stands out by having fun with creativity. They want to work with clients who aren’t afraid to try something different. Jeff said, “Social media is confusing and weird. We help our clients see a clear path to social media success while helping them understand what needs to happen to get them there.”
